- Subject: Re: [IML] QUEST: Inverse Kinematics
-
- Greetings,
-
- After playing with Poser for a while I have come to really enjoy its
- ease of use. I have a question however...
-
- I have heard "Inverse Kinematics" used a bit here and there and am not
- sure what it really means.
-
- Is it like when you move the hand, the upper and lower arm move in
- relation to it? Can Imagine objects (with bones) do that?
-
- If not, that is DEFINATELY something I would like to see.
-
- The reason I ask is I have not had a use for bones up to now but would
- like to try them out with an idea I have.

- Hi Charles
-
- Clae here
-
- The Inverse Kinematics work one and the same on both platforms (it's one of
- those idiot thing you can use :)) (sorry... couldn't let it go by :))
-
- Inverse means you pull the little finger and the rest follows in chain. Gets
- to be pretty sloppy in any program I've used with it, even LW's but that has
- some limiters (takes forever to set them) but they're there (even MH3D).

- So it *does* work with boned objects in Imagine? Good thanks!

- Hi Charles
-
- Clae again
-
- You want to see something really cool with it? Take a thin tube with about
- 10 sections to it; put an axis at each section, bone it. After this choose
- the object's axis and 'freeze' it, turn on constrain, put the selector into
- pick objects mode (IFA) a(miga) 2/(IFW)Object (only works in this mode) and
- chose your last bone axis then r(otate). Use the x l(lock), y l & z l key
- combos and see what happens. I use this all the time.
